2. CHECK REALITY

  • What kind of feedback have you received from your previous managers, peers, direct reports?

  • How do you know that this is accurate?

  • What progress have you made so far?

  • What results has that produced?

  • What is working well for your right now?

  • What obstacles have you come across which slow you down in making progress?

  • Where do you stand now?

  • Do you want to decide on some actions right away, or is this still a little early for you?

  • Are you bothered by this occurrence, or on the contrary, do you feel simulated by it?

3. IDENTIFY OPTIONS

  • What results do you wish to accomplish today?

  • How do you want to begin this work?

  • What could you do differently?

  • What haven't you tried yet?

  • What could be your next step?

  • Are any of these options feasible to implement?

  • What are a few short-term and long-term options?

  • I could think of some more ideas on this topic, do you want to hear them?

  • Would you like to choose an option to act on?

  • What are your options?

  • What could be your next step(s)?

  • Is that realistic?

4. WRAP-UP / WAY FORWARD

  • What is your ideal outcome?

  • What will you need to do to implement this plan?

  • What actions will you take? Who needs to be involved? Who can help and support you?

  • If you started this project today, knowing what you know, what would you do differently?

  • How will you know if you have been successful?

  • What could I do to support you? On a scale of 1 to 10, how committed are you?
